Description

The IT Manager will manage Gensco's computer operations and systems enhancement efforts. Support in external consulting relationships, with customers, business partners and other entities that rely on Gensco IT support. Maintain efficient and accurate computer operations. Establish and manage formal project prioritization and tracking process to ensure company-wide programming efforts are well-defined and coordinated across departments. Research and provide recommendations for computer hardware and software enhancements appropriate for Gensco. Recruits, hires, trains and supervises IT Department Team Members.

Education/Experience/Skills

Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Computer Operations Establishes appropriate procedures and internal controls for computer operations and systems and monitors results to provide excellent service to stakeholders.Manages the computer department’s user support activities and monitors daily balancing of computer-processed data.Seeks ways for Gensco to expand the use of computer technology and solicits suggestions from both internal and external sources.Analyzes and recommends appropriate additions or modifications the Gensco’s computer hardware, software and data communication systems.Manages the computer software definition, programming, testing and implementation efforts.Manages the computer hardware maintenance, upgrades, installation and testing efforts.Serves as Gensco’s internal resource on computer related issues and questions.Conducts or supervises appropriate computer user training and response to questions.Supervises the production and distribution of computer prepared output.Recruits, hires, trains and supervises quality IT department Team Members.Pro-actively coaches IT department Team Members on developing and improving necessary job performance skills.Conducts appropriate job performance evaluations and compensation administration function for IT department Team Members. Asset Management Ensures that Gensco’s security and safety practices prevent loss or damage to computer hardware or software, and appropriate monitoring and controls are in place to prevent and detect malicious activity.Ensures computer systems are appropriately backed up.Manages the company wide purchasing and maintenance of computer hardware and software, data communication equipment and services and computer peripherals such as ribbons, forms, paper, terminals, monitors, printers, etc.Responsible for Gensco’s methods of communication such as desktop and cellular phones, email systems, internet and data lines. 3. Software Development Leads Gensco’s team of Software Architects and Software DevelopersManages the development and maintenance of software applications including websites and mobile applications.Leads Gensco’s e-Commerce strategy and initiatives.Manages Gensco’s Internet and Intranet website development and operation efforts.Serves as Gensco’s internal resource on website and web or mobile applications. 4. Database Development Leads Gensco’s team of System Architects and Database Developers.Responsible for all application databases and that they are maintained, tuned and efficient.Ensures data warehousing and reporting are well constructed and accurate.Leads integrations with Gensco’s systems and third party applications. Education/Experience/Skills: Four-year degree in computer studies or equivalent work experienceFive-plus years of related work experience, preferably in a small to medium sized organization Ability to be both tactical and strategic – will need to be very hands-on and get involved in the finer details, while also able to look at the big pictureExperience with web-based applications and website development designed to improve customer experience using e-commerceWorking knowledge of warehouse operations utilizing radio frequency (RF) scanners, portable printers, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) protocols and standardsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with specialized teams to help define, facilitate and challenge appropriate work scopeExperience in developing business processes to match system capabilitiesDemonstrated ability to manage details and meet deadlines with 100% accuracy in a multi-task environmentCustomer service-oriented approach, responds to requests with a sense of urgencyProactive, self-motivated, able to recognize issues and resolve or escalate appropriately Strong people skills, recognizes when to use formal or informal approach, not easily intimidated, accessible, ability to say “no” in a firm but polite mannerWilling to “think out of the box” and identify process improvement opportunitiesHigh degree of honesty, ethics and integrity with prior work experience handling confidential informationAble to operate personal computer, calculator, other office machines and proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Able to work sitting or standing and to move freely throughout the facilityAble to lift and carry equipment and supplies on a frequent basisOccasional travel required
